THEIR CHALLENGE

Oregon breeds groundbreaking consumer products—from outdoor apparel to food and beverage, the state boasts design and manufacturing expertise known the world over. When key leaders across sectors wanted to celebrate those successes and help the sector thrive, the idea for “the SXSW of consumer products” was born—a bold idea that needed a plan.

Our approach

We worked with stakeholders from across the region to establish a compelling vision for this major event and set the strategy for how to get there. After facilitating a series of sessions to define the experience and develop milestones and resource needs, we worked with Built Oregon’s board to create a messaging platform and fundraising materials to kickstart the event.

The Result

The Built Up Festival launched in 2017 with multiple sold-out events since. The founder discussions and product showcases have created such a renewed awareness for supporting the consumer products economy that the Built Oregon team has taken a major role in regional economic development policy and launched an accelerator for promising companies.
